You've Gotta Friend...

Hannah and Jessi are cousins. They were born seven months apart, and they are both graduating in 2013. They have been really good friends since birth, so why not take some pictures to show that relationship. Both girls were having fun, and even though it was cold and full of harsh light; they were troopers!

They kept commenting about how they felt like we were taking engagement pictures... so we had them  gaze at each other lovingly and added some cheesy enhancements in order to get an amusing, fun shot.

The sun was pretty harsh, which made for some hard light, but we adjusted accordingly in order to get some quality shots.

More Babies

As the women around us continue to populate the world, we acquire more and more babies to photograph. Here are a couple of babies from last week.

The Little Things Count

To create something exceptional, your mindset must be relentlessly focused on the smallest detail.

~Giorgio Armani

Details are incredibly important in every aspect of our lives. With photography, we have an opportunity to capture the little things that others may simply pass by. We both enjoy capturing these images to remind those of the time we photographed. Whether it is the vivid color of the leaves; a shared, knowing smile, dirty little feet; or a simple moth landing on a head; these moments are the memories that are easily forgotten. At the same time, the image itself may bring back the events of the day and make people remember the "why"s and "how"s.

Diva for a Day

Funny Little Ladies

For some reason, Ella loves being photographed. Isn't a big surprise since she's Holly's daughter. Anyways, it seems that every little girl loves a day dedicated to taking pictures. Boys, well, it depends on the boy. I had an afternoon with Ella B, which we dedicated to her. I bought her some new clothes, we went to the field, and I let her do what she does. It was a blast!

Grandparents Want Pictures Too

Last summer we had the pleasure to photograph this happy couple and their four grandchildren. No, they didn't want their Christmas card to include their own six children... just the grandkids and the dog. Now, these people do happen to be our parents, and the children also happen to be ours also; but it was still a fun day of shooting for us. And what a cool idea. Most grandparents only get their pictures taken with all of their grandchildren at special events and holidays. We also took some time to capture just the two old people (as we so lovingly call them), so they would have that to cherish for years to come.

It was super sunny, which made posing and location difficult. We eventually went to a park to utilize the big shade trees for the pictures. That worked a lot better than the open field above.
Notice the condensation on the lens towards the lower half of the frame. If my mother wouldn't have liked this one so much, I would have just tossed it. Humidity+sun=difficult pictures!

Surprisingly, it is difficult to get boys to make a nice face. And this does not get easier with age. I don't know if it is just in our genetics, or if it is a gender thing. Studies are still out. Note our dad's face along with one of the grandkids... straight up difficult.

~Babies~

Babies are great! They're cute, they smell good, the don't talk back, and they're cute. For some reason, everyone we know is having a baby. This gives us a lot of babies to photograph. Currently, it is very on trend to have pictures of the babies in unrealistic poses. We tried one baby and realized it is not possible.

Sleeping babies photograph so much easier than the awake ones. That being said, when the baby is awake and content, you can capture some great moments. When awake, we don't manipulate them too. Everything is easier if we can keep them happy!

Photographing a baby with a pet is a tricky job. If the pets work well, the babies don't and vice versa. Pretty sure it's Murphy's Law... Could be wrong though.
